BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
Chartered Physiotherapist
Specialisms: Sports injuries, Post-op rehabilitation and Physio for older people
Having started my career as a sound engineer, I retrained as a physio when realised I was far more interested in people and health than I ever could be in sound and technology. The switch has been a rewarding and exciting one. Physiotherapy combines my love of people, physiology and fitness with the gratifying challenge of constant problem-solving.
Treating muscular-skeletal injuries have always been a personal interest of mine, having had my fair share from Muay Thai. In the NHS I gained experience treating a variety of pain and injuries, as well as providing post-op rehab. Time spent at West Ham United Football Academy gave me deeper experience in rehab for athletes.
A different aspect to my experience has been providing intensive physical rehabilitation for people discharged from hospital following long-term illness or surgeries, as well as physiotherapy to help older people maintain or regain independence.
But no matter the setting or the physical challenge, collaboratively designing a rehab plan with a patient, then seeing them progress to perform a task, exercise or movement that was previously intolerable to them – that’s the ultimate reward.
Favourite meal? Either a Thai red curry or pasta amatriciana. Depends on my mood.
To keep active I lift weights and do Muay Thai (Thai boxing). However, the older I get, the more time I seem to spend rehabbing the injuries I pick up in Muay Thai.
Things I love to do eat good food with loved ones, dance to house, disco, funk or soul, or raid the M&S Food Hall if it’s a Sunday (cheat day).
